About.

My photo
Visual Journalism Student/ Photographer/Fashion Blogger. I love finding beauty where others don't, and I believe art can be found almost everywhere. Old and new, we can learn from all, and getting to a place where you can realize that is probably the most freeing a person can feel ever. But basically I love Fashion, and the designers are the artists with visions and their canvas' are us and the world, and I love helping spreading that message. "Ultimately isn't that fashion is about? We're all a bunch of big kids playing dress up." Feel free to e-mail me @ andrewwwhester@gmail.com to talk about anything!

Blame it on the Hills.

SO there seems to be A LOT to talk about.

-"Speidi" just returned from their getaway to Mexico and got off the plane at LAX with surgical masks on. Swine flu scare maybe?! Dumb & Dumber strike back.

-Michelle Obama wore Men's Lanvin sneakers to a White House event a few days ago. Kudos to Michelle on ANOTHER European designer, and the shoes are great, but during the American recession? If you could re-think that next time and slip on some Marc Jacobs mouse flats it would be nice. Thanks. Please help out the American designers so EVERYTHING doesn't go belly up.
-Today, Birmingham was 20 out of 25 of the MOST polluted cities in America. Woohoo!

ANDDD the BIGGEST news of all is that I think Georgina is putting on a nice "Holier than thou" front on GG, but I'm not buying it. I hope the ways of the old Georgie come back and The Kills and Junkie XL can rule the Upper East Side soundtrack until the season finale! We can only hope.

Vogue, Vogue.

Michelle's approval rating must be soaring because her March 2009 VOGUE cover has been named a top seller for the magazine. (WWD)

And Madonna will be back for Louis Vuitton for new ads? This has been confirmed, but no word yet on whether or not her much younger "boyfriend" Jesus will co-star. (NYMAG)  (Photo:

Speaking of LV, I CANNOT believe I did not blog this earlier, but I was walking around Saks with my mother this past Saturday just browsing and (sneaking into the LV boutique in our Saks to show off the Sprouse book I want!;) we ran into this piece of art, (below) and I actually got to pick it up and look inside of it. It just made want to be in the fashion industry more than I wanted to before...as if it was all real and all there in the moment and RIGHT OFF THE RUNWAY.

MOBAMA bringin' the fash-on and Galliano's Curing Swine Flu?!

SO.
Apparently Michelle Obama has rocked the fashion world again by wearing this dress from indie designer Sophie Theallet today while presenting a "bust" of a women's rights activist. The dress costs a mere $1,925 and can be purchased here @ eluxury.com-(right off the runway BTW).

(links in story above go to style.com/nymag.com/eluxury.com)
There is huge BUZZ about this "Swine Flu" which seems absurd to me, but whatever I guess. & of course the Fashion Industry has given us all a relief to breathing in those nasty swarming pig fumes...the solution is the masks from John Galliano's Fall 2008 Men's show! (story originally from nymag.com/daily/fashion)

UPDATED @ 1:44 A.M. on April 30, 2009--- Case of "Swine Flu" suspected in Alabama...Great, Hereee we goooo.

Balmain Goes Punk.

The Cure usually creeps me out, but I recently found this song when rummaging through old fashion shows and I heard this during Balmain's Fall 2007 show and had to figure out who it was so I thought I'd share. (I could even do without the words, just the simple instruments and beats are amazing to me.) This is "Lullaby" by the Cure.

The Return of the Vampire and the Illegitimate Son.

On Brothers and Sisters there has been a new character added to the cast to shake up things a little, the illegitimate son, Ryan, played by Luke Grimes. I thought I had never seen him before Brothers and Sisters UNTIL I remembered he looked familiar and he was on last month's cover of V magazine

I like Grimes' character on Brothers and Sisters mostly because I like
characters in t.v. shows who the writers begin to design a plot around their "being", (like "Oliver" on The O.C.)

---ANYWAY
that's just me & I think he looks a lot like Rob Pattinson. What do you think?

UPDATED @ 8:18 P.M. on Monday April 27, 2009 ---He also looks surprisingly like the guy who showed me an apartment today. Weirddd.

You're the Boss Applesauce.

I have known about Andy Warhol's magazine, Interview since about my sophomore year of high school. I could only find about 3 issues a year back then until I decided to subscribe this past year. What an treat having a piece of art sent to my house every month. I would like to share some of my favorite covers and then some of the more interesting stories in them as well.

The magazine's website is featuring a Japanese designer, Junya Watanabe who Michelle Obama has recently been seen wearing
a cardigan by.

(shown in the picture below is from Watanabe's Men's collection)

Usually I do not agree with  the fashion choices of "MOBAMA", but this time I liked it and thought I'd share.

Have A
Good Saturday!

Ma Ma Se Ma Ma Sa Ma Ma Coo Sa

One question : Why is Michael Jackson wearing a Balmain shirt right off the runway when he is selling off all of his memorabilia of himself and his home to survive? Sadly, he styled it up well, but oh well. I would also like to share one of the books from the auctioning of his estate...there are some VERY interesting items inside.

Following back into the GAP and ZAC.

So apparently, the GAP is having Balenciaga designer Pierre
Hardy design some of their new shoes to be released in August. Wonder how much those will cost? I know I will be making every girl I know purchase some either way because I mean, it's Balenciaga, come on.

I am also currently obsessing over these woven-pull-over's that will soon be all the rage. Of course I will not be able to buy the one I want because it is $219, but I guess I can
settle with one from GAP "pop-over" for around $50. It will be great to roll up the sleeves and wear with shorts and flops during the summer.

Lately I have also been falling back in awe with the art that Zac Posen has created with his designs. Please start designing Menswear Zachary,...PLEASE. Thanks.

:)

This will more than likely be one of my MOST random posts BTW. But it's just feelings ATM so whatever.
I feel like I'm getting in over my head, but I like it.
-I was told to stay away, but when do I ever listen to what everyone else has to say? Well, that's a lie...I do take people I trust's advice now and again. I love that I have people in my life that I can turn to and ask for advice on situations. One saying that I think is horrible to ever think is that "family is always there in the end". It makes me think of losing hope in others unless you're related to them. In the past few years, I have began to love some of my close friends as if I were related to them. I don't know what I would do without some of my friends. I'm sure one day I will have a post of friend's dedications to explain how I love all of my friends specifically, but not tonight. I have to study for a Computer Science FINAL. Ugh.
Until next time, I want to leave this "GENIUS-NESS".

Only Difference, You Still Listen, I Don't Have to.

I am now being followed by THE BRITNEY SPEARS on my Twitter account so I must be saying something interesting enough for her to want to see I'm tweetin'. Of course I am honored, I just feel like there might have been some mistake when clicking "Request to Follow" on my page. Hopefully not though. Maybe we'll get to talking and she will invite me along on the rest of her tour and we can go get iced coffee together, take her kids to the park, dodge photogs, call up Madonna, fly the jet to Paris, go visit her on her next Louis Vuitton shoot with Marc, go to dinner with them, and then call it a day. I can dream, right?
Anyway, as I'm day-dreaming of rising my socialite stats, today is A-day on campus. (Which is being covered by ESPN, I might add...) Roll Tide!!!
So I better put a shirt on and be ready for when Margaret calls!

W W W D ?

This afternoon, as I was sipping Iced Coffee, I was just about to spit it out when I realized I was in public. Why, you might ask would I want to spit out $3 coffee? Well, as I was reading THE CUT/NY Mag Fashion Blog, they reported that Whitney Port is leaving DVF and returning to People's Revolution. What will this do for the City? I am interested to see...

On, another note, Gossip Girl is a re-run tonight and will not return until next week, guess I'll just have to find something better to do tonight...

I have a feeling it is definitely going to be worth the wait though....

Just saying...

"Thug Means Not Having to Apologize."

-Officially started on Season 3 of Weeds. It's becoming one of my favorite shows!

Had coffee with Chris Nix today. Good to catch up and nice to have someone who would tell me truth about hats in Urban. Ha, oh wait, that was Grant.  Then went for a late lunch at Cocina with Grant and then to Hollister to see how all of "that" is going... and then went to look at Z-Gallerie at furniture and art ideas.
I bought this shirt on the excursion. Sort of childish, but I liked it a lot, enough to ask the girl in the front room where I can find it since it was on a girl's mannequin. Haha I should be able to pull it off with the right light-weight cardigan. Nice summer shirt.

Also, I recently found out from someone (who I
would rather remain nameless)'s facebook photo albums that Lady Gaga's back-up dancers wear the Louis Vuitton, Stephen Sprouse Graffiti leggings on here her FAME BALL tour. Pretty insane seeing as how Margaret & I cannot seem to find them anywhere online! (photo evidence enclosed.)

SPOTTED@KGTD!

KidsGottheDisco! was last Friday and pictures were just uploaded as I was waking up, and I've been waiting since last Saturday morning for them SO I thought I'd upload & share the ones (two) I'm in. HA

Tomorrow is Easter and today should be called Great Saturday since yesterday was Good Friday or at least Better Saturday. Anyway, I think I'm going to have a laid back day around here more than likely accompanied by Weeds Seasons 2 & 3, coffee and catching up with a friend later, and then probably hanging out with Sarah tonight!

So Apparently, Thigh-High Boots are the New "Pants".

This is definitely a plus and a step up from leggings.

I am also half-way through Season One of Weeds and so I decided to go out and buy Seasons 2 & 3 from Target. Season 2 was only $12.99 and Season 3 was only $19.99. Pretty much a steal!

I can't WAIT to get through Season 2 and on to the 3rd so I can see Mary-Kate as a Christian pot-head!

A Little Herb with Mary-Louise Never Hurt Anyone.

EVERYONE is always talking about how GREAT the show Weeds is so I have decided to get "hooked" and get caught "up".
My Mom has the first season on DVD so I'm working on that currently.

& So apparently, Mary-Kate Olsen plays a "bible-thumping" pothead. Who doesn't love that?!
I can't wait to get that caught up so I can see her in action. I don't think I've seen her act since Passport to Paris.

I also cannot believe I just admitted that. Oh well, pretty amazing movie...when I was in Middle...I mean, Elementary school. Haha

It's a Wonderful LiFe.

This is a song from the Gossip Girl episode #212 - "It's a Wonderful Lie" in Season 2.
It's just so simple and too the point...
how most music should be.

-The Kills - "Getting Down"

Awake Is The New Sleep.

I am just waking up from the longest dream that consists of about 4 different parts and they were ALL so confusing to me. (Very detailed, Sorry for that ahead of time...I just feel that every part of a dream means something important.) & some of the actions that happened in the dream are things that I wish would happen so it freaked me out.
  1. On a hiking trail taking pictures with one of my friends.
  2. Then come out of the woods/nature area and step onto a bus which has been situated so that twin-size beds can fit between some of the regular bus seats. I sit down on a bed, and one of my friends propositions me to make out with them.
  3. I accept their offer, (haha), and we begin to clear off the bed. Once the bed is cleared, the bus stops and Blake Lively walks past me to get off at the stop and grabs my arm as if I was suppose to get off. Once off the bus, she asks me if I'm up for going to a party and asks why I was talking to my friend on the bus because she didn't like them at all.
  4. We go into the party which is trashy and looks like it could shut down at any minute now. I turn around and Blake is already doing two shooters of some drink that is glowing. I then look over and a plate is being thrown at my other friend at the party by a young boy. I punch the boy which knocks him out, and we proceed to leave. For some reason, every one is running outside away from the direction we are walking towards. The bus is still outside at the curb where it dropped us off, and walking away from the bus is a man who just put a gun into his blue-jean jacket. I look at the bus and my friend who propositioned me to make out on the bus is lying on the ground by the steps of the bus.
& then I woke up.

Pretty much the most intense dream I have ever had & I have no idea what to think of it.
I need to invest in a Dream Analyzation book...Now.

Someone Famous Once Said...

"Fashions Fade, Style is Eternal"- Yves Saint Laurent.

I definitely believe this is true.

I have also recently become interested in a form of art which might not be considered art by all.
Here are a two of my favorite recent editorial pieces.

Only an artist like the legendary Karl Lagerfeld, current heir of the House of Chanel, can design a bag with his face on it and sell it for around $2,000. As much as people want to down fashion; all they have to do is look around because whether everyone likes it or not, everyone is judged by what they wear. Fashion is Art as much as Art yuppies would like to disagree they know it all comes back to sketches and Adam & Eve had to worry about what they were going to wear before they called their art dealer for a new Van Gogh or Warhol. =)
