About.

My photo
Visual Journalism Student/ Photographer/Fashion Blogger. I love finding beauty where others don't, and I believe art can be found almost everywhere. Old and new, we can learn from all, and getting to a place where you can realize that is probably the most freeing a person can feel ever. But basically I love Fashion, and the designers are the artists with visions and their canvas' are us and the world, and I love helping spreading that message. "Ultimately isn't that fashion is about? We're all a bunch of big kids playing dress up." Feel free to e-mail me @ andrewwwhester@gmail.com to talk about anything!

supFASHIONWEEK/SPRING09?!

I am officially obsessed with the new THOM BROWNE stuff even through I will not be able to afford a piece for a while. I was hoping he would step outside the box with something soon, like maybe neon socks with spikes or something emerging from those short pants of his, but this is just as good. I have to say that the yellow trench, the polka dots on EVERYTHING, and the sunglass/hat are my favorites. (See below)

ALEXANDER WANG, I don't feel that I have to even explain myself on this one.
The style is intricate and simple all at the same time. My motto. Insane. (below)

TOP 5 LOOKS (according to ME)
--------------------------------------------

NICOLE MILLER, the pieces of clothing in this collection look like they could be put on hangers and hung on your wall and used as pieces of art. The prints used is out of this world, AND that's what it remind me of. The prints used look like the universes and the colors used in nature/sci-fi art. (below)

TOP 2 LOOKS (according to ME)
--------------------------------------------

BAND OF OUTSIDERS, -No explanation needed. If I EVER need a suit when I get into the business world, there is no doubt that I would go to THOM or BOO first.
This collection seems to have suits, but also a laid back look to it, AND the suits with shorts are still around so of course I'm in Love. (below)

A Night On the Town.

Anna Sui (who looks like a little "starstruck" in the picture with Blake) showed her GG inspired Target line in New York at a Pop-Up earlier
one night this past week.

Blake, Taylor, Michelle, Jessica and even Penn Badgley showed up.
AND New cast member Joanna Garcia showed up , but there was NO sign of Leighton. Sad press night. =/

Party in the U.S.A., or NY at least.

-Trouble in Proenza-dise?! (NyMag)

Through interviews about their Spring 2010 Collection, the two designers of the team bicker about what is going on. Hmm...Darn, I hope their line DOES NOT suffer at all, as for their "other" relationship, that would not be horrible for...me if it did happen to END. :-)

SPOTTED>Lady Gaga was spotted in a Fall 2009 Marc Jacobs cape.
GA GA on the Marc Front Row? Please say Yes.

ALSO, V Magazine is holding a contest for 2 VIP tickets to the MJ/Gaga shindig on Monday night! The tickets will go to the fan who submits their diehard love for with the best Poker Face. Just Kidding, I didn't read the rules, but here's the LINK.

Come and Get It. If You Want It.

It's Official. The Marc and Gaga After-Party during Fashion Week
will be hosted at 'The Box' in NY.

Also, Lady Gaga also has new headphones to be released in October from Dr. Dre's headphone line, Beats by Dr. Dre. They look insane, sort of like you have diamonds growing out of your eardrum...and who doesn't want that?! From $99-$149.99, will you buy a pair? I might just have to add them to my Christmas list. In sad Fashion News, Kristin Davis' (SATC) self-titled clothing line will be discontinued after it's Fall 2009 line this year. She was rumored to show at Fashion Week,...this upcoming week, and instead she has said that the line will be ending. It seemed like the line did pretty well, but since it had only been picked up by Belk stores, the range and customer size was sort of small.
Best of luck for 2nd SATC Movie Kristin! (theCUT)

In good/mixed feelings Fashion News, Lindsay Lohan has been named "Artistic Advisor" for Emanuel Ungaro. So now she works for the man (Mounir Moufarriage) who fired K Lag from Chloe, Watch Out! (theCUT)

And So it Begins, well, Thursday.

What I wouldn't give to pay someone to Go to my Classes this and next week, Work my shifts, finish my article by deadline, finish my Photo-Journalism project, and take my Psychology test Thursday...so that I could go to NY and try to sneak into shows during Fashion Week.

& to go to Fashion's Night Out on Thursday and Meet Anna in Queens, find Sarah Jessica Parker, Lazaro Hernandez, maybe Marc and Lorenzo, and take 1,000,000 pictures!

THAT WOULD MAKE MY YEAR.

But none of this will ever happen because I'm a full-time student and can't leave, and not to mention how much all of this would cost.

All I can do is Thank the Lord for Style.com and YouTube.

YouTube Me.

While I was recently managing my Subscription to Nylon Guys on their website, I got swept away onto their YouTube site and I got lost in watching some of my favorite Stars & Nylon Cover Stars in preview interviews.

Here are a few of my Favorites!

(***Anna Paquin "chic"-ed out, Kristen Stewart in the infamous Christopher Kane monkey T-shirt, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in skinny suits galore!!!***)

(& Ed Westwick for K-Swiss, Karl Lag, Burberry's Christopher Bailey and Mary-Kate!!!)

Is Blood the New Black?

I have recently been bitten by the HBO series True Blood, and I'm hooked. I am currently catching up to the point the season is at now, and I can't stop watching. Every time I have down time, I am watching. Which got me thinking...the Fashion of this show is so particular and has style of its own. Which also got the thinking...that a designer should do a True Blood inspired line. The outfits the characters have a relaxed and trendy feel. From the flirty dresses worn by Sookie Stackhouse, Anna Paquin's character on the show, Bill Compton's, Stephen Moyer, henleys, leather jackets, and jeans, and the continuous plaid button ups worn by her boss, Sam Merlotte, Sam Trammell, the show is always up to the latest in's and out's on the scene.

Vampire looks have been projected before and Twilight even has an inspired line of makeup coming this Fall.

The True Blood promotional pictures look like they could be a look book alone.
Have a look!

Make it Work.

Rachel Bilson is guest judging on
tomorrow night's episode of Project Runway!
Maybe the designers will be making looks for her Rachel herself or MAYBE (??!!) she is delivering news about a line she is doing herself during her visit(?!)
Watch and see. Lifetime, Tomorrow night (Thursday) @ 10/9c.

Ode to the Tooth.

My good friend Grant recently sent me an e-mail of with a picture of a jacket from the Bergdorf Goodman website (below) that was featured at the beginning of a designer page, and I decided that it was time I blogged about the Houndstooth and Extreme fashion as a whole!

Alexander McQueen has taken such common patterns such as the Houndstooth and turned them into Revolutionary prints that will always be remembered to the Fashion World because of his extreme vision of 'Extremity'.

With his Fall 2009 Collection leaving people confused and/or excited to see the over the top looks, it left me thinking about who I could actually see walking down the road with a bag or feather wig on top of their head while in such a extravagant outfit.

***Also, McQueen designed an Egg Chair with Houndstooth print in the past, and now it is being sold again in the upcoming months in the London and New York stores. If there is one piece I need to complete my apartment, it is this, but I do not think that I can go without paying rent for 4 months to get it. (IT EVEN HAS SKULL ZIPPERS!!!)***

I was not questioning his vision at all because of the Houndstooth print being so dear to the Alabama culture, I feel that is time we bring the Couture back into the South.
From the days of Plantation Homes to the now days of Haute Couture. Why shouldn't people dress this lavish now and feel comfortable?

I think fashion has turned into something that certain people are afraid of, and that should not be the case. When the paranoia of what you're wearing comes, then Fashion is not doing it's job anymore. It is defeating the purpose of self-expression and standing out because of a color you think looks good or a pattern you like a lot. Sometimes the wrong thing can be the perfect thing in Fashion.

I mean, I cannot count how many times I have gone back and contradicted myself on fads that I said I would never like and ended up trying anyway or fads that I thought were cool and no one else did not at the time, and then everyone started to pick it up.

My point is, don't care what you're wearing as long as you feel contented and you feel that it's you. & I think that President Dr. Witt should present Mr. McQueen with an invitation to a home game this season because I think he would appreciate & love to see all of the Houndstooth we have flying around this campus on a Game Day Weekend!
