ALEXANDER McQUEEN
SPRING11 | SPRING AWAKENING
by : Sarah Burton
The most highly anticipated collection of the season, Alexander McQueen Spring 2011. Sarah Burton's first collection taking over after Lee Alexander McQueen passed in February 2010. Butterflies, feathers, (to the floor, might I add.) -of course I'm a fan of that), wheat straws and leather buckles and buckle-d. Burton said that she would not do the "theatrical" showing that McQueen was famous for, but the pieces were beautiful and breath of fresh air without a theatrical showing. The hair and make-up added a young feel with the light eyes and slick back and longgg braids, and the clothing made them more adult and classic.
The colors and prints were very McQueen and Burton continues to kept his spirit alive of his fascination with butterflies and hardware. The shoes are a mix between a gold plated lilly-pad and a tough leather buckled bootie with height.
Full of a celebration of nature and romantic themes, the Spring 2011 collection seems to be flawless. Burton is definitely spreading her McQueen wings and taking off in a nice direction.
Lovely.
