American artist, Willie Cole currently has an exhibit in the city of Birmingham, Al at the UAB's AEIVA. The exhibit also includes photography from Spider Martin & other pieces of relevance such as Elizabeth Russell's "Song of the South", 2010. (second row, left.)
It was hard to block certain events involving race & culture in today's American culture out of my mind before viewing the exhibit, but being unable to let go helped me see the works with my perception of the past and the present.
The exhibit is titled Willie Cole: Transformations & will be on view until August 8, 2015.
