About.

My photo
Visual Journalism Student/ Photographer/Fashion Blogger. I love finding beauty where others don't, and I believe art can be found almost everywhere. Old and new, we can learn from all, and getting to a place where you can realize that is probably the most freeing a person can feel ever. But basically I love Fashion, and the designers are the artists with visions and their canvas' are us and the world, and I love helping spreading that message. "Ultimately isn't that fashion is about? We're all a bunch of big kids playing dress up." Feel free to e-mail me @ andrewwwhester@gmail.com to talk about anything!

Emmys 2012 Best Dressed

Classic Styles

The Girls, Lena Dunham wore a floor length royal blue Prada gown, and co-star Allison Williams wore an emerald structured gown with peplums by Oscar de la Renta.

Printed Beauties

Once Upon a Time's Ginnifer Goodwin was a presenter tonight, and sometimes the presenters have the best looks! She wore a bright red/orange floral vine like printed Monique L'hullier gown and it works perfectly. Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss wore a very fitted floral gown from Dolce & Gabbana. Both of these ladies look stunning with their daring printed dresses.

More Classic Styles

Award show veteran Julianne Moore wore an eye-popping yellow gown from Raf's first collection for Dior, (a dress I knew would be worn to an award show this year when it was shown this past summer in Paris). Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery wore a fitting deep blue dress from Louis Vuitton. The look- especially with the touch the sheer top half- goes perfectly with her up-do.

From Past to Future: Prada, Alexander Wang, & Proenza Schouler SS13

ALEXANDER WANG SPRING 2013

Black and White - GLOW IN THE DARK. Everything was monochromatic, in true Alexander Wang fashion--until the lights turned off and everything was electric. Dresses with invisible glow in the dark cut-outs- all perfect for the silhouette. The silhouettes were very strong and dominating and nothing too tight fitting, also true to the Wang girl's style. Even though the garments aren't too tight; the shoes however have thigh buckles and stick with the cut-out theme giving a futuristic glambot S&M vibe. See for yourself with the video below!

PROENZA SCHOULER SPRING 2013

Jack and Lazaro of Proenza Schouler also had a monochromatic mix at the beginning of the presentation with looks coordinating of two colors at once then moving into different textures with focus on technology and photography. Images of groups of people displayed on dresses with circular cut-outs - letting the audience know that Big Brother is always watching... Proenza Schouler is never afraid to use color, patterns, & most of all different textures. The circular cut outs/crochets give the collection a nice industrial vibe from the hardware.

PRADA SPRING 2013

Japanese art like prints with monochromatic use of black and white - and also bright red lips. Mod style sunglasses and sixties iconography daises. Rubber like shoes adding to full effect feminizing the look to the extreme. Miucci seems to be playing with the decades for the past few seasons. Fall 2012 was all about bold prints and colors focusing on long trenches and two piece suits empowering a seventies silhouette. Spring 2012 was time for the fifties drive-in/Americana auto inspired collection. Now for the artsy, sophisticated Prada girl who doesn't mind showing some leg!

Planes, Trains, & Automobiles (Blast from the Past) -PRADA SS12

American Graffiti! I knew I was going to enjoy the Women's PRADA SS12 collection when I saw the Menswear this past June mostly based on the brightness and the prints. Cartoon-ish prints of fire, 1950's style cars and a use of basic pastels and bright patterns. Classic silhouettes styled into looks with dresses and pieces to be worn alone to add to a great trend. As spring should be, the collection is very colorful and classic SS holiday feel. I mean, the heels even have flames. (Adding to the literal emphasis on these shoes are gonna be "hot").

Paging Betty Draper to the Runway...

I can't believe it has taken me this long to get into AMC's Mad Men,
but now that I have started watching,
(beginning Season One right after Black Friday and currently starting Season Four)
...I'm HOOKED.

Betty Draper has got to be one of my favorite female lead characters in television now. Not only does January Jones (-future Versace Spring11 Ad Campaign model) portray the 60's depressed housewife perfectly, she started bring back the 60's "open umbrella under the dress" look way before this past Fall season when it was shown again Paris & Milan with Louis Vuitton and Prada.

Slim waists, billowing bottoms and prints, prints, prints...

PRADA, Fall 2010

Louis Vuitton, Fall 2010

That is the other reason I am posting this...it is so sad to me that I am just now picking up on this trend besides the fact I don't know how many times I have passed the ads this season in about 20 fashion editorial magazines.

Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 Campaign

SO, here it is. The post that I should have posted in September.
The 60's are here for Fall, and now, 70's for Spring!
The 70's revival is so exciting. All about exhilarating colors and prints. (Reds, oranges, deep purples, neons, and animal prints ---LEOPARD), but that post will come later! Enjoy, my post I am ashamed to be posting in late December just as Fall is coming to a close, but I feel is too good to not post!

Happy Holidays!
